The 2024 Asian Evaluation Week (AEW) officially opens today in the vibrant city of Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. Around 180 evaluation practitioners and partners from various organizations are expected to join the four-day event which will run from 2 to 5 September at the Conrad Hotel.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance, PRC, through the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI), and Asian Development Bank’s Independent Evaluation Department (IED), this year’s event carries the main theme, “Innovations for Influential Evaluation”. Over seventy resource persons, all experts in their respective fields, will be sharing their knowledge and insights across three different subthemes: “Navigating Development Impact in the Digital Era”, “Leveraging Evaluation for Organizational Transformation”, and “Evaluation Regional Public Goods for Sustainable Cooperation”.
A total of five plenaries and eighteen parallel sessions have been lined up for this year’s event which will be keynoted by no less than seasoned economist and BBC broadcaster Tim Harford. Tim will present a TED-style talk on evidence as well as engage in a fireside chat with ADB Vice President Scott Morris on how to use evidence to promote organizational transformation.
Check out our Agenda section for more details on the sessions and topics. Our individual session pages also feature posters, quotes and video invites from our resource persons. Meanwhile, photos of the event as it happens are uploaded to our online photo album.
