UNFPA Independent Evaluation Office
Joel Rehnstrom is Director of the Independent Evaluation Office of UNFPA. He previously worked as Director of Evaluation at UNAIDS for seven years and has focused on enhancing organizational effectiveness, learning and accountability throughout his 30-year career with the UN. During his career he has also worked for UNICEF, UNDP, UNV and WHO and served in Bhutan, Pakistan, China and Yemen. A Finnish national, he holds an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School and a PhD from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, where his thesis examined methods for evaluating the effectiveness and impact of UN development programmes.
