Ashwani K. Muthoo is an Indian national who currently serves as the first Director General of the Independent Evaluation Office of New Development Bank since April 2022. Prior to this, he held various leadership positions at the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), including as Director of the Quality Assurance Group, Global Engagement and Multilateral Relations Division, and Global Engagement, Knowledge and Strategy Division, as well as Deputy Director of the Independent Office of Evaluation.
He brings around 35 years of professional and managerial experience in international cooperation, dedicated to evaluation, quality assurance, global policies, country strategies, and development projects and programmes. His work experience covers more than 50 developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Near East and North Africa.
