Ken Chomitz is an economist and evaluator recognized for his contributions to environmental sustainability, climate change, and development effectiveness. As Chief Economist at the Global Innovation Fund, he designed the organization’s flagship Practical Impact framework, which underpins its approach to maximizing social impact across a diverse investment portfolio. Prior to GIF, he spent more than two decades at the World Bank, where he led pioneering research on biodiversity, forest conservation, nature-based solutions, and carbon markets. He authored the influential Policy Research Report At Loggerheads? and coauthored the World Development Reports on environment (2003) and digital development (2016). In the World Bank’s Independent Evaluation Group, he led major evaluations of climate strategies and chaired the oversight committee of the independent evaluation of the Climate Investment Funds. Prior to the World Bank, Ken worked with a policy advisory group in Jakarta, Indonesia; was an assistant professor of economics at Boston University; and a National Research Council Fellow.
