Maria-Elena Pinglo has over 15 years of private-sector experience, complemented by more than 20 years of evaluating World Bank Group (WBG) development results. Her work spans designing evaluation approaches, writing evaluations, assessing programs, and analyzing the alignment among client needs, WBG strategies, and program design and implementation.
At the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG), she has led and co-led several major evaluations, including the IFC Sustainability Framework evaluation, the Gender Evaluation, the Financial Inclusion Evaluation, the evaluation of Managing Urban Spatial Growth, and the Housing Finance Learning Report. Through this body of work, she has made significant contributions to evidence-based decision-making within the WBG.
Prior to joining the WBG, she began her career as a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch in Lima, Peru. She holds an MBA from American University and a BA from Universidad del Pacífico, Peru.
