From Xi'an to Xi'an: AEW marks 10th year

Date

AEW @ 10

The Asian Evaluation Week (AEW) has come full circle as it opens in Xi'an, People's Republic of China, where it all started ten years ago.  Regarded as the leading evaluation knowledge sharing event in the region, the conference is taking place from 1 to 4 September at the InterContinental Xi’an Hi-tech Zone.

The four-day milestone event is expected to gather around 200 evaluation experts from across the globe. Anchored on the theme "Navigating crises: Building on successes", this year's AEW will feature five plenaries and twelve parallel sessions. Other highlights include:

  • Evidence Talks with Dean Karlan on the transformative role of rigorous, evidence-based evaluation in enabling governments to make smarter, more impactful decisions
  • Fireside Chat with Marie Gaarder from the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie)
  • World Café which is aimed at sparking collaborative dialogue and diverse thinking around national evaluation systems
  • Project Site Visit to Shaanxi Qinling Biodiversity Conservation and Demonstration Project
  • Book Launch of two timely books on how the evidence ecosystem works and why it matters for better decision-making
  • Torch Passing Ceremony from current torch holder Lanzhou University to the hosts of AEW
