Asau Leauma

Mr. Leauma is the Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Finance who plays a crucial role in the monitoring of Multilateral Development Banks' budget support and projects to Tuvalu. Mr. Leauma's contributions have been instrumental in Tuvalu's economic growth through his oversight of ADB-funded projects and the successful implementation of vital infrastructure projects such as the Outer Island Maritime Infrastructure Project, which has significantly boosted inter-Island connectivity and economic activity.

Prior to joining the Ministry of Finance, Mr.  Leauma acted as Deputy Auditor General within the Office of the Auditor General, supervising most financial and performance audit. Notably, he was the Former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Tuvalu Post Limited, and is currently a Board of Director for the Tuvalu Electricity Corporation (TEC).

Mr. Leauma holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Economics, Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, Master of Professional Accounting, and Master of Business Administration (MBA Internationally accredited) from the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji.
