David Slattery has over 20 years domestic and international experience promoting evidence-based approaches to achieving sustainable development. David is currently Regional Evaluation Advisor for Independent Evaluation Office for Asia and the Pacific, based in Bangkok one of several assignments he has completed with the United Nations Development Programme.
As Director with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), David received a National Award for improving the performance of the Australian aid program through evidence-based programming. David led policy development for Australia’s +$600 million development program to Papua New Guinea, and as Acting High Commissioner supported the establishment of a globally significant treaty between Australia and Tuvalu to deal with the challenge of rising sea levels.
David has a Masters in Evaluation from the University of Melbourne and has led over 20 major evaluations with UNDP, DFAT, AusAID, the Australian Auditor General, and the Australian Department of Social Services.
