Sohini Mookherjee is Director of CLEAR South Asia and leads the Capacity Building vertical at J-PAL South Asia. She oversees CLEAR South Asia and the India Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator (IDCA), and leads J-PAL South Asia’s broader training portfolio. Her work focuses on strengthening how governments and development organisations generate, interpret, and use data and evidence for decision-making, with experience spanning monitoring and evaluation, institutional capacity building, government partnerships, and policy engagement across South Asia. She has led partnerships and capacity-building initiatives with governments, multilaterals, and civil society organisations, with a particular interest in moving beyond one-off training towards sustained institutional capability and evidence use. Sohini also works on gender and evidence, including research on women’s safety in public spaces and initiatives to strengthen gender-responsive measurement and programming. Across her work, she is particularly interested in translating rigorous evidence and data into practical systems and capabilities that support better public decision-making.
