
Sabine Bernabè is Vice President of the World Bank Group and Director-General of the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG). She leads IEG in strengthening accountability and generating evidence-based lessons to enhance the effectiveness of the World Bank Group, with a focus on high-quality evaluations, systematic use of existing evidence, and capacity development through the Global Evaluation Initiative.
She brings over 20 years of international development experience in evaluation, policy, and research across international organizations and academia. Before joining IEG, she headed the Evaluation Function of the European Investment Bank and previously served as an economist with the World Bank, EIB, UNDP, and KU Leuven. She holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and a Masters degree from SDA Bocconi .
