
Sonia Chand Sandhu leads Evaluation Capacity Development in the Independent Evaluation Department at Asian Development Bank. Thirty years of international development experience in infrastructure operations in ADB, World Bank, and private sector spans multiple sectors covering South & SE Asia and Africa. Key work areas include urban resilience, climate adaptation, environment policy reform, coastal and watershed protection, with innovative publications on livable cities and nature-based solutions.
She has held multiple roles from project leadership, environment safeguards and evaluation and was appointed the Sr. Advisor to the Vice President of Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development in 2015. She holds a Masters in Environment Engineering from College Park, Maryland, USA, a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Chandigarh, India, Executive Education certificate in the “Leading Economic Growth” Program, from Harvard University, and an Executive Diploma in “Urban Management Tools for Climate Change” from Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
