Made Arya Wijaya

Made Arya Wijaya has been elected as Executive Director for Armenia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Kyrgyz Republic, New Zealand, Niue, Samoa, and Tonga effective 1 July 2023. 

Born in Singaraja-Bali on August 17, 1965, Made Arya Wijaya earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Universitas Islam Jakarta (1995). Then he continued his studies in the University of Colorado at Denver, United State and earned Master of Science in Finance (2001). 

Prior to joining the ADB, Made Arya Wijaya was the Assistant of Minister for Government Expenditure (2021 to 2023). He also served as Director for Economic and Maritime Budget Affairs (2018- 2021), Director for Budget Harmonization Regulation (2015-2018), and Deputy Director for Budgeting System (2008-2014). 

He actively participates in capacity building through workshops and training in the areas of public spending management, financial analysis, budgeting reforms, development programs, and health insurance. In study-cases involving France, the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Japan, the United States, and Canada, he also focuses on training for performance-based budgeting (2009-2015). 

Made Arya Wijaya also held the position of co-chair of the G20 Joint Finance and Health Task Force (JFHTF) from 2022 to 2023. In the future, JFHTF will implement a number of policies pertaining to pandemic preparedness and the prevention of health emergencies.
